Civil Rights For All
The Ku Klux Klan was flyering people’s cars in Tampa Bay as recently as 2020, and the state is going after civil rights groups? Make it make sense. Racism in any form is not safe in Florida, and it’s time our elected officials codify that into law in every way we can. Let’s drop any pretense about our history of providing safe harbor to hate, act like adults and own up to our faults, and reconstruct a better future for everyone.
What we need to do:
- Teach the Truth: Repeal what's left of the Stop WOKE Act and fund an honest African American history curriculum.
- Reckoning With the Past: Fund real review of wrongful convictions and study reparations for Florida's own history of racial violence.
- Everyone Belongs Here: Set a real statewide floor for religious accommodation, publish hate crime data, and require real consultation with Florida's tribes.
How we do it:
- Teach the Truth: Repeal the Stop WOKE Act's K-12 provisions (the only part courts haven't already struck down); mandate a standards-based African American history curriculum with implementation funding.
- Reckoning With the Past: Fund regional Conviction Integrity Units; create a state commission to study reparations, building on Florida's 1994 Rosewood precedent.
- Everyone Belongs Here: Set a statewide religious accommodation floor (schools, workplaces, state custody); require FDLE to publish a public hate crime dashboard; require formal consultation with the Seminole and Miccosukee tribes on land-use/environmental decisions.
